Just over a year since it was launched, the innovative slider wand control option for the Uni-Blinds SV and SV+ Systems is proving to be a welcome addition to the specification of our most popular integral blind systems amongst customers where accessibility to the standard slider may be an issue.

Although a relatively simple concept, the slider wand’s development involved an extensive research and development process by ScreenLine integral blind systems manufacturer Pellini S.p.A., with whom Morley Glass has partnered for 22 years. Their aim was to engineer and test an aluminium and high-grade plastic assembly, complete with a Sanitized coating to offer antimicrobial protection, that will not only stand the test of time but achieve strong aesthetic appeal.

The result is a product that can provide a robust control device for SV and SV+ System blinds installed in windows that wheelchair users or people with mobility issues may find difficult to reach. It is also proving itself to be useful in awkward locations, such as windows above a kitchen sink, high up a gable end or above stairs.

The slider wand, like the standard cordless magnetic slider, is mounted on a profile guide down the left or right hand side of the glass. The design of the wand means it can provide a smooth up and down movement of the slider to operate the blind with ease – performing all the usual functions at arm’s length.

The aluminium wand is similar to those used to tilt the slats of the cord-operated manual ScreenLine Venetian blinds, and it is available as an option for both the Uni-Blinds SV System and the symmetrically-designed SV+ System.

Ian Short, Managing Director of Morley Glass said: “The ease with which you can control the SV and SV+ Systems means the cordless magnetic slider has long been the most popular of our control systems.

“However, the slider with integrated wand has taken the systems’ convenience to an even higher level, making the magnetic cordless slider control a viable alternative to motorised integral blinds for wheelchair users or people with reduced mobility – as well as in windows that are harder to reach.

“In the first twelve months of the slider wand’s availability, we’ve seen a wide range of applications for the device, and we expect to see it specified much more as installers become more familiar with the position of windows that could benefit from the increased accessibility it offers.”

The SV System uses a patented design to allow all the functions of the blind to be controlled by powerful magnets. This means there are no cords on the face of the glass unit, offering a sleek, easy to clean result. The SV+ uses the same technology and control device but it offers a different aesthetic, with dual slim side guides to provide a symmetrical appearance.

As with all bespoke ScreenLine integral blind units manufactured by Morley Glass and sold under the Uni-Blinds brand, the SV and SV+ systems are available in a choice of colours including exclusive black, agate grey and anthracite.

Uni-Blinds are easy to fit and offer a long, virtually maintenance-free lifespan. They are all made to order by Morley Glass at our Yorkshire factory and supplied with complimentary delivery in as little as 10-12 working days, when ordered by 10am on Thursdays.
