CATCH

CATCH stands for Community Action to Create Hope. It is a ground-breaking Leeds-based charity dedicated to providing a wide range of facilities and support to empower young people and adults so they can effect positive change through creativity, whilst enhancing their communities.

As a sponsor of CATCH, Morley Glass provides financial and hands-on support across all parts of the organisation. The charity operates an extensive community space 24/7, 365 days a year, which includes an educational farm, a sport field and a ‘growing zone’ where young people can get involved in young volunteers to growing fresh fruit and vegetables for CATCH’s community café and for their own purposes.

The CATCH team are all volunteers who run various programmes with all its youth activities free of charge. One of the ways CATCH generates revenue is by providing first aid training courses and hiring out meeting and conference rooms, but financial support from sponsors remains crucial to its long term success.

Leeds Knights

Leeds Knights is a rapidly developing community-focused ice hockey team that right deserves its place in the limelight. Their performances at Planet Ice Leeds, their home rink affectionately known as ‘The Castle’ located close to Leeds United’s Elland Road stadium, have won plaudits locally, regionally and nationally and they have taken the league by storm as a result.

The team won the NIHL National Division in 2023, making the team champions in the second tier of ice hockey in the UK. Leeds Knights only entered the league after the Covid pandemic, following the opening of the new 2000-capacity Planet Ice Arena in 2019, and Morley Glass has been proud to support them since 2021.

As “Title Sponsors”, we are delighted to be able to support the continued development of the “Morley Glass Leeds Knights” until 2025, with our logo featuring within their home rink and on the team’s jerseys.

North Leeds Charity Beer Festival

Organised by The Rotary Club of Roundhay, the North Leeds Charity Beer Festival is an annual event that provides an amazing opportunity to celebrate some of Yorkshire’s finest beers whilst raising funds to support a diverse range of local, national and even international projects.

We have supported the festival for several years because it is about so much more than the beers! It is a key date in the annual events diary for the whole family, spanning two days, serving up distinctive Yorkshire beers and gins, a variety of other drinks, incredible food and activities such as children’s face painting.

In addition to showcasing interesting and unusual beers from micro and independent breweries across Yorkshire, the event serves up locally sourced Setchfield Butchers pork pies and homemade samosas – served with peas of course! The superb quality food perfectly matches the beers, as does the live music played throughout the festival courtesy of a number of local bands and artists.

North Leeds Cricket Club

We are proud to have supported North Leeds Cricket Club since 2017. With men’s, women’s and numerous junior teams, the club does an amazing job of putting cricket at the heart of the community, ensuring everyone can get involved in the sport.

In fact, youth cricket is one of the most important objectives for North Leeds CC. Providing easy access to cricket to young people from all backgrounds is a major priority for the club, which is why they work so hard to create a safe, enjoyable environment benefiting from some excellent facilities.

North Leeds CC’s senior teams continue to thrive too, with the men’s first XI playing in the Airedale & Wharfedale Senior Cricket League.

The club is based at the Homestead on Old Park Road in Roundhay, which is an excellent facility not only to play and practice at, but for hospitality too. In addition to providing a space to host classes including Pilates, the club hosts entertainment and special events throughout the year, including the North Leeds Beer Festival – another good cause that we are proud to support.

Collegians FC

Supporting football at grassroots level is so important, which is why we are proud to be able to help community teams who work hard to provide access to the sport, particularly in terms of giving young people the opportunity to participate.

One of the clubs we are delighted to support is Collegians FC. This all-inclusive football club based at Lindley near Huddersfield have been playing football more than 100 years.

The senior Collegians FC team plays in the Yorkshire Amateur League, but the club also caters for a wide range of age groups from under-8s and under-9s right up to under-18s who play in the Huddersfield Junior Football League. It is a fantastic club that works hard to make the sport accessible to all, but it relies on financial support from businesses like ours and individuals to operate.

Moortown RUFC

Moortown RUFC is one of the longest-established amateur rugby clubs in the Leeds area. The club has a rich heritage having been founded in 1934, but it continues to thrive thanks to a positive, forward-thinking outlook on providing accessibility to the sport and developing young players.

Our support for the club helps them provide excellent facilities at its Moss Valley ground for a wide range of teams. Moortown’s three senior teams, a Colts team and a thriving junior section ensures there are opportunities for anyone interested in playing, even from a very young age.

In fact, one recent initiative saw the formation of the Moortown "Mini" Rugby Academy. This provides an introduction to mini rugby for all primary school aged children, with a format including fun games and exercise with a rugby ball which focuses on passing and catching.

It’s an example of how Moortown RUFC continues to explore new possibilities for the sport in the north Leeds community, and we are thrilled to be able to help them do so.

Sharlston Rovers Juniors

Sharlston Rovers Juniors is community focused rugby club based in the village of Sharlston Common near Featherstone, with teams catering for over 80 young people from the age of 4 up to 15.

Morley Glass supports the club to help ensure it can provide opportunities throughout the season for young people to develop their interest in rugby union and develop as players. In addition, our sponsorship assists the club more broadly at a time when it is raising funds to improve the quality of its facilities, particularly for those who are disabled or attend with young families.

The club is solely run by volunteers, fundraising and contributions from local businesses which is why we are delighted to contribute.

Freedom 2 Dance

Freedom 2 Dance is a thriving community-focused dance school which is dedicated to increasing accessibility to dancing. One of the ways they do this is to ‘level the playing field’ by offering scholarships to children, which means they can benefit from professional dance tuition regardless of background or personal circumstances.

Morley Glass has funded the scholarships since 2018 and to date more than 100 budding dancers have benefited. The scholarships are important because they enable Freedom 2 Dance to reach out to children who may otherwise be unable to access additional dance training.

Two types of scholarships are provided – level 1 is ‘Gifted & Talented’ and level 2 is for children seeking to try something new. They provide either one private lessons per month or a 40-minute class every week and are available to any child who is already a part of Freedom 2 Dance community.

Rotary Club of Roundhay

The work of the Rotary Club of Roundhay benefits the local community in so many ways, such as by supporting young people and schools, the elderly and people facing challenging circumstances. The club is the local representative an internationally renowned and widely respected organisation dedicated to the promotion of understanding and peace, literacy, good health, the environment and clean water supplies, and the eradication of hunger.

The Rotary Club of Roundhay relies on volunteers and sponsorship to operate. That’s why Morley Glass is proud to provide financial and hands-on assistance to the small but growing group of friendly, social, charitable professional and business people who make up the club.
