Scholarships provided by integral blinds manufacturer Morley Glass & Glazing for dance students at a school in Castleford has helped a number of dancers take their first competition by storm.

Pupils at Freedom 2 Dance who successfully gained a place on the Ballroom and Latin Scholarship competed at Wythenshawe, Manchester under the UKA dance governing body

The competitors, trained by Freedom 2 Dance teacher Olivia Choi went on to take home 11 trophies from the event which consisted of one second place, two third places, three fourth places, three fifth places and two sixth places.

The scholarship was created in September 2018 with the support of Morley Glass & Glazing. Managing Director Ian Short knows first-hand the impact of being able to take part in such activities after taking part in and winning a charitable Strictly Come Dancing event in 2017 when partnered with Olivia Choi.

Ian was thrilled with the results and said “On a business and personal level it is great to support this initiative, to see the pupils engaged with the teachers, combined with the dedication and commitment the self-development that the pupils will gain is a massive tangible benefit. And after a short amount of time to take part in the first Latin and Ballroom competition the reward has been delivered in the placings and medal achieved. This is something I will be more than happy to keep supporting. Keep up the FAB-U-LOUS work!”
